I hope all the new arrivals have been settling in nicely.

If I may have your attention for a moment, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Gelda Nebilim and I'm one of the teachers at the local school. Classes are in session from 9 am to 2:30 pm. We offer a variety of courses, which you may have seen in the guide, but I'll be happy to explain more about them.

If you'd like to register as a student, you're welcome to stop by and take the placement exam with us, for subjects such as Math, Science and Composition. We also encourage adults and students alike to attend the World Sharing classes, as well as the Music and Magic classes, which are open to everyone so we can get to know one another better, and learn more about the respective worlds we come from.

For now, I'll gladly answer any questions you may have.

[Anyone passing by house #27 on this lovely Sunday afternoon will find Gelda outside in the snow. She's building snowmen in her yard. It starts with just one, but another soon follows. And another. And another...

It may seem strange for a grown woman to be building an army of snowmen, but she just can't stop herself. The snow is having a profound effect on her. It's comforting to be outside in the numbing cold, keeping herself busy with something she used to do in Keterburg all the time. There won't be any extreme differences between the snowmen. They'll all look like your average, pebble-smiled jolly men, with vases for hats and scarves that Gelda knitted herself.]

[Regal would certainly not object if things were to go that way, though he likely would hold back just a bit because he knows quite well just how hard he can throw those snowballs without really even trying.]

I would still consider myself something of an amateur, but they do say that practice makes perfect. You've certainly given me more than enough opportunities here.

[He smiles.]

If I didn't know better, I would say you were enjoying yourself.

You're very perceptive today, aren't you? [She chuckles, pushing herself to her feet and approaching him.]

Though, I wouldn't mind taking a break for some hot cocoa by the fireplace.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, I just brought home a new tin from the store. Why don't we give it a try?

[He moves to stand as well... and he might just be surreptitiously scooping up a handful of snow as he does so.]

[She sees what you're doing there, Regal! She's not going to comment on it, though. Let's not spoil whatever surprise he has in store.]

That sounds perfect.

[It's very hard to shape a lump of snow into a snowball with one hand, as Regal is learning now. This may end up being more of an awkward-shaped lump of snow than anything else.

But he'll be offering his free hand to her as innocently as possible-- ignoring the mischievous twinkle in his eye, that is.]

[Goodness, that's an awfully suspicious offer. Gelda pauses for a moment, before reaching out to take Regal's hand anyway. She'll just have to welcome the no-doubt impending shenanigans. It's no fun playing in the snow if there aren't any 'victims', after all.]

[Taking her hand is a perfectly innocent gesture. So is the moving to rest his other hand on her shoulder... except for the fact that it's not going for her shoulder and there's a rather large lump of snow in it that's about to be stuffed down the back of her coat since it wouldn't make a very good snowball anyway.

Oh well, it's still useful for something!]

[While she saw the move coming, Gelda wasn't fast enough to avoid the hand of snow that's soon dumped down her back. The sound she utters is something between a squeak and a fit of laugher, as she tries to move away from Regal in reflex. She'll have to get that coat off as soon as possible, because... cold cold cold!]

[Regal will let her pull away, laughing quietly-- because he knows her well enough to be expecting some sort of retaliation in just a moment, and that's half the fun of a snowball fight anyway. Okay, so maybe "stuffing snow down someone's coat" isn't exactly a snowball fight, but it's the thought that counts, right?]

[Once Gelda's free of her coat and the cold mass that was slowly sliding down her back, she will indeed retaliate immediately. Snow is scooped into both hands and pressed together into something that doesn't quite resemble a ball. It doesn't need to be round, as long as it can be used as a projectile.

Heads up, Regal! It's whizzing towards your face!]

[... okay, so a snowball right to the face isn't quite what he had in mind, but he manages to duck just enough so it hits his shoulder instead-- and in doing so, he leans down to scoop up another (large) handful of snow as well. But this also means that he's wide open while he's making Snowball #2...]

[Gelda also needs a bit of time to create a second snowball. This one gets a bit more effort and is actually round, but when she tosses it, it's very likely to miss. Or just hit Regal in the side, if he honestly can't avoid it.]

[And miss it does, but Regal is ready and waiting to launch a second snowball of his own right back at her, aimed low enough down so there's no risk of it hitting her in the face because he's well enough aware of his own strength.]

[The snowball hits her in the stomach, just below the chest. Still, it doesn't hurt her much. It fell apart rather than pound her. Gelda just laughs, before leaning down to form another snowball of her own.]

I see you haven't lost your touch.

[Regal takes a moment to brush some of the snow off himself, then begins to make an even bigger snowball. Whether or not he'll actually THROW it is up for debate, but it certainly looks menacing enough...]

Did you honestly expect me to?

[Gelda's not going to wait for Regal to finish that big monstrosity he's making. She'll round up her own and fling it towards him while he's still occupied.]

Touche.

[Unfortunately for him, he's so distracted by making snowballzilla that he's a sitting duck for Gelda's snowball, which smacks him right in the head and explodes in a poof of snow all over his hair. The end result makes him look not unlike one of the powdered sugar donuts he makes, with little bits of snow clinging throughout his hair.]

[Gelda can't help but burst into laughter at the sight of that. His long mop of hair dripping with snow, he reminds her rather of a wet animal. She doesn't really care that he still has that snowballzilla- she's having too much fun to keep her guard up, at this point.]

[An opening! Regal is just going to seize this opportunity to chuck said snowballzilla at her, though he's careful to do so without much force behind it so that if it does connect, it will likely only feel like being whapped by a pillow. Fun is fun, and accidentally hurting his fiancee during a snowball fight does not count as fun. But he's not going to be the only one looking like a wet animal now if that snowball hits its mark...]

[Gelda stops laughing when she looks up to see snowballzilla soaring towards her. But only for a moment. Once it's exploded in her face and she can feel the cold snow dripping down her head, even into her coat, another fit of snickering starts. She can wipe some of the snow off herself with one arm, but she must look rather silly herself, now.]

[For a brief moment Regal looks concerned - did he throw that a little too hard? - but then Gelda starts to laugh, and he can't help the smile that spreads across his own face and quickly makes way for laughter of his own. He's got no doubt that his own hair is covered with snow just the way hers is and it most likely looks even MORE ridiculous.

Who cares if he's soaked now? This is more fun than he's had in quite a while, and seeing Gelda this happy just makes it that much better.]
